Margaret and I have been running our holiday rental business for 17 years and we fell in love with Tuscany after many visits before we purchased the property. We have enjoyed every aspect of our life here but now it is time for us to move on. We were in our 50s when we bought L’Olmo but now we are in our early 70s we are finding the working side of the business just too much and there are many other things we want to do whilst we still can!
There is a long story to tell which would be best shared over a glass of wine on our terrace. We currently market the rental business through our web site, www.lolmo.com and also through portals such as www.vrbo.com, property no. 72446. There is also a very good aerial video on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPvnW7is2Zk. The rental season here is normally from May until October, so about 25 weeks. We have always run the business in a very personal way and that is reflected in our reviews with many returning and referral clients. So the business base is strong. We have chosen to live here during the season and personally take charge of the rentals but this could easily be delegated and we do have a local couple who look after the property when we are not here and would be keen to increase their involvement if required.
The house is over 500 years old but has been well restored and maintained in an original Tuscan style which most people find pleasing. The services are all modern with mains electricity, LPG gas, water from a shared well and biological septic system. The land extends to nearly 8 acres with a mix of lawn around the pool and house, meadows and woodland. We have 25 olive trees which produce enough quality oil for us and our guests, a few old vines maintained for show and a selection of fruit and walnut trees. The pool is 40 x 20 feet and easily maintained. The house and gardens are fully furnished and, barring our personal stuff, all is available for purchase or would be subject to negotiation in the sale terms. There are no liens on the property and local taxes are reasonable.
